The Champions League group draw will take place on 1 October in Athens, Greece 2020/2021: the last with two European cups. In fact, from the 2021/2022 season, the Conference League is added to the Champions and Europa League: the first 4 of Serie A in the Champions League, the winner of the Italian Cup and the 5th in the Europa League and the 6th in the Conference League.
Juventus is the only seeded Italian team. Winning the Europa League would have been in the first bracket as well Inter, which instead are in the third bracket like Lazio. And maybe Atalanta too, at the moment before the clubs in the fourth pot: but if among the six teams arriving from the play-offs there is at least one with a worse Uefa ranking, the Bergamo players will move up to the third band.
Juve can find an easy group with Shakhtar Donetsk, Celtic and Bruges but also a more difficult one with Manchester City, Leipzig and Marseille. Inter, Lazio and Atalanta risk a group with Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Marseille dreaming of one with Zenit, Shakhtar and Bruges.
